FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Results

Patients are responsible for following up with the doctor regarding test results. We expect all our patients to discuss results with the doctor in person. We receive hundreds of results daily. For privacy and logistical reasons, our staff cannot provide results over the phone, nor inform you about the receipt of results. If your result is abnormal, the doctor will make every effort to reach you but we generally encourage a follow-up visit one week after testing. For test results, please book an appointment.

To accommodate patients who are in self-isolation due to COVID-19, we offer phone appointments. For your convenience, we offer online booking here. Please book a time slot and the doctor will call you at the scheduled time. Please ensure to select the "Phone Appointment" option.

Refills

We will accommodate appointments for renewals as soon as possible. Still, it is your responsibility as a patient to ensure that you have enough medication to last until your next appointment. All patients on prescription medication require monitoring and have to be reassessed periodically. That means that you may need to regularly undergo symptom or drug interaction checking, and surveillance blood work. For prescription refills, please book an appointment.

Requisitions

Please book an appointment if you need a requisition, even if it is a replacement form because you have lost a former one. Requests for investigation may require a repeat consultation or a physical examination.

Telephone messages and callbacks

Unscheduled phone calls steer attention away from booked patients and interruptions create room for medical errors and disorganization of workflow, which will result in longer waiting times. To help us dedicate sufficient time to your question or concern, please book an appointment.

Referrals and referral waiting times

Alberta doctors send referrals to a Primary Care Network (PCN), which employs a dedicated team of Referral Coordinators who improve access and coordination of care for patients across the province. Once the PCN contacts an appropriate specialist, the specialist will triage the referral letter, and decide when patients are seen. Alberta specialists usually contact the patient directly with appointment details within one month. If you have not received an estimated waiting time or date after a month of waiting, you can contact the Lloydminster PCN at 780 874 0490 or book an appointment to see the doctor for re-evaluation. This is applicable to specialist appointments only and does not apply to diagnostics, blood work, and other third party referrals or testing services.

Our online schedule accurately reflects the appointment availability at the clinic. This platform is updated automatically and continuously. Typically, our online Open Access Booking System accommodates patients within 24-48 hours. If, however, you are unable to secure an appointment within your preferred time frame, you can complete the online request form here. We aim to respond within one business day. Please be advised that the online request service is for exceptional cases only. It is not to be misused and it does not replace a consultation.
